Going to look at a 1969 Falcon wagon this coming weekend. Nice car, very original, low miles, late model 5.0/AOD drivetrain coming with it. It has some issues with the tailgate (window mechanicals have been removed, some rust at the lower edge). The rest of the car is damage free and virtually rust free. The rear window is there (laying in the back cargo area), just no crank assembly.
How common are the tailgates? 1966-1969 would be the same, but I don't want to end up with a car that can only be driven on nice days. |

I have no first hand experience with this year model, but it would seem that with any old station wagon, parts aren't that easy to find.
I wonder if Fairlane wagon tailgates are interchangeable?

I would check an interchange book but the falcon and fairlane wagons share the same chassis/wheelbase from 66-69, and google images of the tailgates look the same. (66-69 falcon sedans/coupes are stubby fairlanes structurally)

Well, going Saturday to look at it. Perhaps something can be fabricated.

No title on the wagon, so no go.
We are now looking at a couple of Fairlane Squires. Not as nice, but run and drive...and have proper papers. |
