Can anyone help me in locating some 18x8 or 17x8 factory style steels, that I can fit some dog-dish hupcaps to?

You might look into the steel wheels that are used on the Chrysler 300/Dodge Magnum/Dodge Charger. I'm not sure about dog-dish hubcap fitment though.

Dodge wheels use a different bolt circle, very close but different
look at Ford Ranger, Crown Vic, Escape, Edge, Grand Marquis as far as the dog dish's, you may need to use the style that attaches to the lug nuts, think Police Interceptor. they stopped putting the nubs around the center to hold Poverty caps on a long time ago |

PS122 those 300/Charger/Magnum wheels are 5x115, not 5x114.3 or 5x4.5"
They'll fit but they aren't quite right. |

Bad assumption on my part....
Anyway, the 2006+ Panther platform wheels are available in 17x7.5. They look pretty nice (especially if you widen the rears as Car Craft did in the linked article):

The 2003+ Panther wheels also are a completely different offset.
1998-2002 CV/GM wheels would work in 16 inch. Here's what one looks like on my sedan:

Wheel Vintiques offers some of their steel wheels in 17". Be warned, though - they are very pricey...

if you're willing to settle for 16's you can use the 2002 & earlier Ford cop wheels with the nut covers, they have the right offset. 2003 the offset changed to 'high positive' or whatever. here's my 2003 with 2002 wheels on it

Unless you go with an aftermarket source, I don't know if you can get the correct offset in any 17-18 inch wheel. I run 17 and 18 inch wheels that are and/or mimic Ford wheels and love them, but they are not steel rims.

I'm gonna have to re-think my wheel or hub-cap choice I think. I can't justify $200 a rim. I was after a cheap option with some class. Any thoughts on a 17" cop rim with a full width 15" cap? I wnat some thing different, to the usual 5-spokes or bling type rims.

You might have to get a little 'creative' in mounting the full wheel covers, but I think it could provide for a unique (and cool) look. Particularly if you painted the 1" of rim that remains uncovered by the wheelcover in body color or a contrasting color.

What about a 17 inch trim ring, a Ford cap and body-colored wheel?
or... A buddy of mine bought a set of aftermarket alloy wheels that had the chrome flaking off. He sprayed the wheel black and the thicker lip on the 17 alloy inch wheel allowed a smaller size wheelcover to be mounted. I love this idea. There seems to be an abundance of these 'flaking chrome' wheels on CL that can be had for cheap (relatively speaking).

Or, be like me:
Cragar 17x9.5" wheel...    I'm using a $74 steel wheel, but be warned: these are 40 pounds each, not including a tire...they are heavy but man they have gotten me a lot of thumbs up for avoiding the mag wheel look. I got mine in silver by accident and elected to use duplicolor wheel paint. Not perfect, but cheaper than powder coating for now. |
