Hey everybody, I want to get a set of 15 x8 rims and 15x10, for the front and back, for my 71. I have never bought rims and tires before, so I don’t know anything about offset, backspacing, etc when it comes to picking a set of rims out. And what tire sizes should I go for? Car will mainly be a driver/street car.

Bretticuss - there is a great post in the forum about tire and rim sizes, including photos from various members. I'd recommend reviewing this thread: -Chris

Thanks, I gave it a good look. All of the cars on there are 72 and newer, so I’m not sure how much of that information is applicable to my car.

That's why I'm hesitant to suggest anything for your 71. I know the 72-79's are a little bigger and the 255mm front, plus 275mm rear tires will fit well for those. Those widths are almost common for the bigger cars and create a slight rake as you mentioned. You're going to have to search for many examples of tires used on the Torino's like your generation car. it took me a while to narrow down my search to 255/60 fronts and 275/60 rears, on 15" wheels.

I’m thinking I’m gonna have to go with 15x8s all around, with about a 4inch backspacing. That’s what I’m reading around

On my '70, I'm running 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing in the rear, 275s. Depends on your tire, but 4" BS might be cutting it close to rubbing on the fender. I definitely had more room towards the inside though. Easily could fit a 9" wheel.
FWIW, the most I've seen on 70/71s are 9.5" with 5.5" BS

Just remember to get your ride height exactly where you want it before you buy rims and tires !
